Watch: Avraham Fried Electrifies The Pocono Mountains

On Sunday, February 2nd, during Yeshiva Week, world-renowned Jewish music legend Avraham Fried perfomed live at the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos.

The electrifying evening delivered more than just uplifting music—it supporteda mission that has deeply impacted the Jewish community in the region: the Pocono Mikvah, Mikvah Rochel Leah.

The journey to building the Pocono Mikvah is one of perseverance and purpose. For years, visitors and locals alike struggled with the absence of a mikvah in the area, a glaring need in a region visited by hundreds of thousands of Jews annually.

Driven by a vision to serve both residents and visitors, Rabbi Shmuly and Chana Newman set out to build a state-of-the-art mikvah that would meet a wide range of halachic requirements.

After years of meticulous planning, fundraising, and waiting for significant rainfall to fill the wells, the Pocono Mikvah opened its doors in August 2023.

Unlike many mikvahs, which rely on consistent usage to cover their operating costs, the Pocono Mikvah faces a unique challenge. Its primary users are visitors, leading to inconsistent usage throughout the year. While the mikvah is busy during the summer and vacation seasons, there are little to no visits per night during the quieter months, making its maintenance a financial challenge.

This year, the Mikvah used the power of music to raise awareness and fundsfor Taharas Hamishpacha. Avraham Fried, whose music touched the hearts of Jews worldwide, will headline this special concert to support the holy work of the mikvah.

“This concert is more than just a night of beautiful music; it was a night of connection, inspiration, and community support,” said the organizers. “Many families are choosing to spend their midwinter break here, enjoying great room rates, a men’s-only time at the waterpark, kosher food options, and more. By attending, you’re not only treating yourself to an unforgettable evening but also ensuring that the Pocono Mikvah can continue to serve the countless families who rely on it year after year.”
